Nothing Much Happens Here. That’s the Point.

Today, a MOOLI walked across a field.

He stopped for a moment.

Looked around.

Then continued walking.

That’s it.

That’s the entire story.

And strangely enough, we’re perfectly happy with that.

Does everything need a purpose?

Somewhere along the way, doing nothing became something we needed to explain.

If we’re not working, we should be learning.

If we’re not learning, we should be exercising.

If we’re not exercising, we should be improving ourselves in some other meaningful way.

Even our free time has become something to optimize.

And we’re not saying any of those things are bad.

But when did sitting quietly become such a strange thing to do?

When was the last time you did absolutely nothing without feeling like you were wasting your time?

The MOOLIs have figured something out.

We haven’t asked them, of course.

They’re not particularly talkative.

But if you watch the MOOLIs going about their day, you’ll notice something interesting.

They never seem to be in a hurry.

They don’t compare themselves to the MOOLI standing beside them.

They don’t worry about what the other MOOLIs accomplished yesterday.

They just exist.

Sometimes they wander.

Sometimes they rest.

Sometimes they stand in the same spot for a suspiciously long time.

And somehow, everything seems perfectly fine.

A little reminder.

You don’t have to turn every hobby into a business.

You don’t have to document every experience.

You don’t have to make every single moment of your life productive.

Sometimes a nice afternoon is just a nice afternoon.

Sometimes a walk is just a walk.

And sometimes watching a little creature do absolutely nothing is a surprisingly pleasant way to spend five minutes.

That’s why we made MOOLI.

Not to change your life.

Not to teach you anything particularly profound.

Just to give you somewhere to visit when you feel like slowing down.

Because in a world where everyone is trying to make something happen…

Maybe it’s nice to have a place where nothing much happens at all.
